The Gateway Restaurant has quickly established itself as one of the leading Coffee Shops in Drogheda. The premises were originally used as stables by a firm of bakers, they used them to house the horses that pulled the bread vans. The entrance to the laneway is ridged which enabled the horses get a foothold on the incline to the stables. Our sister company Kierans Brothers Ltd. has traded from these premises since 1946 and it was their products that were the inspiration for the restaurant. We felt that our customers would enjoy an opportunity to sample our homemade cooked meats and salads in pleasant surroundings on the premises and hence The Gateway came into being.

Nowadays we have an extensive daily menu and our full Irish Breakfast is a great favourite among our customers. For those of us who enjoy a nice cup of coffee in the morning, we pride ourselves on only using the finest coffee beans and Robt Roberts Java blend is our current choice. In keeping with our policy of using as much home produced products as possible , we have a large range of home produced confectionery and our home baked scones are extremely popular in both The Gateway Restaurant and Kierans Deli. At lunchtime we have a full carvery available as well as an extensive selection of salads, sandwiches and savoury wraps.

In the afternoon we have a full hot counter as well as our salad bar in operation and our Chicken Curry has become immensely popular with customers. The Gateway Restaurant has a capacity for 107 people and is open from 8:30am to 5:30pm Monday to Saturday and we also have a full wine license. When we started out in 1981 we were aiming to give our customers a friendly and efficient service and to maintain a very high standard of hygiene. In 2006 we are continuing to adhere to those principles.
